Spiral wound gaskets — four constructions

Choose the construction that matches your flange face. Type A for tongue-and-groove or male-and-female faces; Type B, C and D add inner and/or outer guide rings to control compression and prevent blow-out.

Inner guide ring limits inward buckling, reduces turbulence and protects the winding from erosion.

Type C spiral wound gasket with outer guide ring

With outer ring

Outer guide ring centres the gasket on the bolt circle and acts as a compression stop. For raised-face flanges.

Both guide rings. The most widely specified construction for raised-face flanges in critical service.

Spiral wound gaskets are semi-metallic: a V-shaped metal strip is wound alternately with a soft filler, then finished with an inner and/or outer guide ring. The construction gives recovery under thermal cycling while resisting blow-out at high pressure — the reason it is the default gasket for hydrocarbon and steam service.

Manufacturing capability

We are a manufacturer, not a trading company. Winding, ring fabrication, marking and inspection are all done in-house.

Shop floor equipment: winding machines, presses, lathes and inspection
Shop floor — winding machines, hydraulic and vulcanising presses, lathes and inspection equipment. Ring fabrication, moulding and testing are on the same site, so they are not subcontracted out.
